Celebrate life, community, and remembrance at the Calaverita Run 5K in San Antonio on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Held at La Gloria at Pearl, this Día de los Muertos-inspired evening event brings runners, walkers, and families together to honor loved ones through movement, tradition, and celebration.
Join the 1-mile Family Walk at 7:00 p.m. or the 5K Run at 7:30 p.m., then enjoy local vendors, festive costumes, and meaningful moments of remembrance. Personalize your race bib, add a dedication to the “For Whom Do You Run” wall, and celebrate the memories that keep our loved ones close.

What is a "Calaverita"?

A “calaverita” is a tongue-in-cheek, rhyming poem that’s a beloved Mexican tradition during Día de los Muertos. Filled with playful jabs, clever wordplay, and a wink at mortality, these verses imagine humorous encounters with the afterlife, all in the spirit of celebrating life. Just like the run itself, calaveritas are full of energy, creativity, and a little bit of mischief.

Honor Loved Ones During the Calaverita Run

Participants will have the opportunity to place a photo of a loved one on their race bib to wear as they run. You're also welcome to write the name of your loved one(s) on the "For Whom Do You Run" wall and add a photo on the community altar as a part of this shared remembrance.

The Calaverita Run 5K and Family Walk is more than a race. It’s a shared experience that brings our community together to remember the past while embracing the joy of the present. In San Antonio, we don’t just run, we run with our spirits high, with our ancestors at our side, and with a heart that never forgets.
