1. Explore the Exhibit Space

Step into an immersive exhibit space designed to educate, inspire, and spark conversation. Visitors can:

• Learn about Black trailblazers who shaped local and national history

• Sit in Rosa Parks’ seat and reflect on the power of everyday courage

• Browse the Lending Library filled with books on Black history and culture

2. Exhibit Highlight: Soul of San Antonio

One of the museum’s most moving experiences, Soul of San Antonio features heartfelt reflections left by visitors from around the world. These shared messages speak to gratitude, memory, and connection.

3. Event Highlight: SAAACAM Art Market

Celebrate creativity and culture at the annual SAAACAM Art Market, featuring Black artists and artisans from across the city. This year’s theme, “A Century of Black History Commemorations,” honors 100 years of celebrating Black contributions—dating back to Carter G. Woodson’s creation of Black History Week in 1926.

Did you know the San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum (SAAACAM) hosts Black History River Boat Tours throughout the year?

These guided cruises along the River Walk share powerful stories of African American contributions to the city’s culture and history, all while passing iconic landmarks and scenic views. The February tour is just one of many engaging heritage tours and experiences SAAACAM offers year-round, giving both visitors and locals meaningful ways to connect with the stories that helped shape the city.

While the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo runs from February 12 – March 1, you can also experience cowboy culture along the River Walk!

San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA)

Located along the Museum Reach of the River Walk, the San Antonio Museum of Art showcases a world-class collection spanning 5,000 years of global art, from ancient Mediterranean and Asian works to contemporary pieces.

This February, SAMA’s Off the Wall: Year of the Horse event celebrates the strength, symbolism, and cultural importance of horses, making it a perfect artistic complement to rodeo season while the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is in town.
