A Look Back at July’s Performance
July’s featured artist in this ongoing series was Carson Jeffery, a small-town Texan who is a cowboy by day and a rocking country artist by night.
As the eager crowd settled into the amphitheater, the seats filled up in no time. With breathtaking views of downtown San Antonio illuminated by the stunning Texas sunset, it was the perfect setting to enjoy live music.
Performing his hit songs and introducing new ones, the crowd went wild for his strong stage presence and charismatic personality. Showgoers raised their hands (and glasses) as Jeffery captivated the crowd, reminiscing about songwriting memories and sharing his love for Whataburger.
Along with the crowd at the Arneson Theatre, Go Rio Boat Tours appeared occasionally sailing between the crowd and stage, offering a perfect opportunity for visitors to enjoy talent. Beautiful melodies are pushed into the atmosphere as Carson Jeffery’s vocals are enough to make heads turn, or in this case, river cruises stop and stare.
“Music was not what I originally thought I would be doing. I was just a rodeo kid.” Jeffery said, telling the story of his upbringing in the music industry.
He described his journey into becoming a musician as something that wasn’t taken seriously. Recording his first album during his time at Texas A&M University marked the beginning of his journey as a performer. “It wasn’t always the plan, but it ended up being the plan.” he said.
He recalled frequent trips to San Antonio as a child due to his fascination with the history of the Alamo. “I was a huge Alamo and Davy Crockett fan. I was just so immersed in that growing up; and I still am.” he exclaims.
During his time in the Alamo City, he would also enjoy a stroll down the famous River Walk. “We were always coming over here and hanging out on the River Walk,” Jeffery recalled.
When asked about the Arneson Theatre, he stated “This venue is pretty neat. There's a lot of places you play that have different energy in the air and I feel like this one is going to be one of them.”
One take away that Jeffery’s wants his listeners to gain is relatability to his music. “I try to write honest music that listeners can relate to. That’s the main thing, writing stuff that people can find something in.”
