Welcome to the season of giving! If you’re on the hunt for the ideal gift for your nearest and dearest, look no further. We’ve got your back with a curated list of the finest local shopping spots along the River Walk. From the charming Mission Reach to the bustling heart of Downtown and the artistic vibes of the Museum Reach, we’ve handpicked a few places where you can discover that perfect present:
DOWNTOWN
This weekend, we will host our annual Holiday Winter Artisan Show, where visitors can shop from over 40 handmade artisan booths, including pottery, textiles, jewelry, woodwork, paintings, beadwork, and more. If you can’t make it down for the holidays, no worries; our Winter Artisan Show is happening in January.
Another great spot to get local gifts is the Holidays on Houston St. Pop-Up. The Pop Up Shop connects local small businesses with vacant retail spaces downtown to open their own retail storefront for the holiday season. Here, you’ll find unique items from local vendors such as DEZYNR, Perrito Lindo, and Two Artsy. The pop-up is located at 175 E Houston, Suite 115, and is open through December 30th | Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
BONUS: Check out the Holidays on Houston Street Market Dec. 15-17!
SOUTHTOWN/MISSION REACH
The Southtown Arts District is home to many local businesses. Stop by Garcia Art Glass for a one-of-a-kind hand-blown gift (or purchase an interactive class). Spoil your pups with treats from The Waggery, or buy a few records for the music lover in your life at Southtown Vinyl. If you know someone who’s a foodie, there are endless restaurants in the area you can surprise them with a gift card.
BONUS: Check Brick at Blue Star Arts Complex local businesses and the upcoming So-Flo Market.
PEARL DISTRICT/MUSEUM REACH
Pearl District is another great spot to find gifts! Check out the Holiday Night Market happening all month long. They also have some great businesses, including Feliz Modern Pop, Dos Carolinas, Rancho Diaz, Ten Thousand Villages, The Twig Book Shop, and many more!
A few other places along the Museum Reach where you can find gifts include the San Antonio Museum of Art, The Witte Museum, and the San Antonio Zoo. Check out our neighborhood hide here.
