Camp Hot Wells

HEAD SOUTH (MISSION REACH) FOR A SELF-CARE DAY AT CAMP HOT WELLS

Finally, unwind by the Mission Reach section of the River Walk at Camp Hot Wells! Back in 1892, a highly sulfuric water source was discovered near a nearby psychiatric facility on the Southside of San Antonio. Although not suitable for consumption, the water was believed to possess therapeutic qualities. Just a year later, entrepreneur McClellan Shacklett started leasing the water from the facility’s well and constructed the first Hot Wells Hotel, offering a place for visitors to relax, soak, and socialize. Today it’s no longer a hotel, but this hidden treasure provides a rejuvenating experience with its Hot Springs soak, camping facilities, and the chance to enjoy beer and wine amidst the historic Hot Wells Ruins (which was once the hotel). It’s the ideal way to conclude a hectic day and indulge in some well-deserved self-care!
