October is the perfect time to explore the San Antonio River Walk. With cooler weather, a lively downtown scene, and exciting events along the Museum Reach and Mission Reach sections, it’s the perfect season for a visit!

EXPLORE DOWNTOWN

The most iconic section of the River Walk, downtown, you’ll find an array of things to do, places to eat, and events to attend! Here are a few happenings we recommend to check out:

Paesano’s Dinner Cruise | Multiple dates in October | An Italian experience along the River Walk, full of fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and legendary dishes like our famous Shrimp Paesano.

Go Rio River Ghost Tours | Multiple dates in October | Hop on some hair-raising fun! Experience the paranormal and otherworldly of the San Antonio River Walk. Cruise downtown and discover haunted tales and folklore on a one-hour tour. Admission ticket includes tour and drink ticket.

FREE Concert Series at Shops at Rivercenter | Saturdays in October | Enjoy live music from local artists right along the River Walk at Shops at Rivercenter.

Fall Artisan Show | Oct. 6-8 | Shop over 40 handmade artisan booths. Booths include pottery, textiles, jewelry, woodwork, paintings, and beadwork.

Halloween Adult Night at LEGOLAND Discovery Center | Oct. 13 | Enjoy the 4D Monster Party movie and rides, and explore the full attraction kid-free!

Black History River Tour | Oct. 14 | Join the San Antonio African American Archive and Museum on the beautiful San Antonio River for a 100-minute cruise exploring San Antonio’s Black History.

Midnight at the Masquerade Murder Mystery Event | Oct. 21 | Marriot River Walk |  It’s up to you to determine which partygoer is guilty, bring this crime to justice, and save the party! Includes a three-course plated meal. 

Tasting Texas Wine & Food Festival | Oct. 26-29 | This four-day epicurean experience allows food and wine lovers to explore the unique flavors of Texas.

Day of the Dead River Parade | Oct. 27 | See elaborately decorated floats with altars, catrinas, and costumed riders, all celebrating life and loved ones. 

Day of the Dead at La Villita | Oct. 27-29 | Located right along the River Walk, La Villita is the oldest neighborhood in San Antonio! They also host one of the city’s biggest Dia de Muertos events that features a Grand Altar, Catrina Artisan Market, Local Artist Calavera Collection, Giant Alebrije Exhibit, and a Remembrance Wall.

Loteria Nights | Oct. 31 | Grand Hyatt | On the last Tuesday of each month, guests can enjoy a game of Loteria, beer and wine specials, live music, and prizes.

HEAD NORTH TO MUSEUM REACH

"While there are always festivities happening at Historic Pearl, we wanted to spotlight its culinary scene. Did you know participating restaurants at Pearl offer specials during happy hour and lunch? Meet-n-Eat at Pearl is the perfect way to try a new restaurant and explore this once brewery-turned-vibrant community.

Here is a glimpse at some of the menus to try:

Boiler House

Lunch Special | Grab the sandwich combo with your choice of a house or Caesar salad, the Salmon Avocado Burger, or the Grilled Trout for $18.83 (in honor of the date Pearl was founded in 1883.)  

Happy Hour | Every Thursday stop by Boiler House for Extended Happy Hour between 2pm to 10pm. Try Cocktails & Glasses of Wine for $6, Lone Star & Lone Star Light for $3 or get date night ready with a charcuterie board and a bottle of wine for $40.  

Supper

Lunch Special | Ask for the Monte Cristo special ($15) and daily lunch drink specials available M-F, $2 off our creatively classic cocktails (including Peach in Thyme).

Carriqui

Lunch Special | Carriqui fired up a new lunch menu. From the burnt ends on our signature 13-hour smoked brisket, to the fresh tomatoes in our Avocado & Tomato Salad, there’s something for whatever you’re craving. Each item is inspired by the traditions of South Texas and made with pride by the Culinarians.

Happy Hour | Every Tequila Tuesday you can enjoy half-off any of the fresh-made cocktails on our Margarita Menu. That’s half off all margs, all day, every Tuesday. We’d also love to see you at our weekly Happy Hour, Tuesday – Friday, from 4:00 – 6:00p, with cocktail, beer, and wine specials alongside our Happy Hour menu, featuring South Texas favorites like fire-roasted Jalepeno Poppers, Smoked Chicken Wings, Molletes, and more.

Bakery Lorraine

Lunch Special | Monday – Friday between 11 am – 2 pm get a half sandwich with the choice of a cup of soup or salad for $14.

Lunch Special | Ask for the “Wurst Case” for lunch. This includes the Daily Butcher Sausage and rotating Accompaniments $15. 

Happy Hour | Every Thursday stop by for an Extended Happy Hour, lasting 6 hours between Noon to 6pm.

Venture South for Mission Reach Adventures

Lastly, head south to the Mission Reach to explore Confluence Park’s nature and outdoor happenings. Here is a look at what is going on this month:

BYOC at Confluence Park | Oct. 13 | Don’t miss comedy at Confluence Park featuring the best in Texas standup! This comedy show is about bringing your chair and bringing your own booze!

Community Yoga | Every Sunday in October | Join a  free, all-level 1-hr community yoga flow that will help you release tension, build strength, connect to nature and empower you to have a more productive and calmer week ahead.

Little Amal | Oct. 22 | As part of Amal Walks Across America, a 6000+ mile journey, follow Little Amal on her quest for a place to rest her feet as she meanders through the landscapes of Confluence Park encountering hundreds of small, intricately crafted cardboard houses, each one representing the dreams of those seeking a home. As she traverses the park, attendees are invited to pick up the tiny dwellings and join the procession, creating a village for Little Amal at the end of the evening. 

Hauntings Storytelling Concert | Oct. 28 | The San Antonio Storytellers Association’s mission is to reintroduce the art of oral storytelling into the community at large. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome  — free and open to the public.

Birding the San Antonio River with Mark Menjivar | Oct. 29 | Learn about local and migrating birds seen along the San Antonio River.
