The Paseo del Rio Association is a non-profit organization founded in 1968 to promote, protect and preserve the San Antonio River Walk, the number one tourist attraction in Texas. The Association accomplishes this through the production of special events along the River Walk throughout the year and through the publication of Rio Magazine, a monthly visitor magazine. The best FREE party on the River Walk featuring a wicked costume contest ($500- 1st place, $350- 2nd place, $150- 3rd place), enchanting music & an eerie river parade!
Costume contest registration 6:30-7:15 PM. Costume contest 7:30-8:00 PM. Parade 8:00-9:30 PM (2 laps around downtown)
Costume contest is sponsoree by Dick's Last Resort. Registration begins at 7:00pm at the Arneson River Theater.
The Contest is open to anyone 18 years of age or older. Participants must have a valid Social Security number in order for payment to be processed. Costumes must be in good taste. Judges will determine eligibility and have sole authority and discretion. No Risqué or profane images or language incorporated in or on the costume. Couple or group costumes will be considered one entry. Registration for the costume contest is the day of the event, from 7PM-7:45pm. Costume contest begins at 8pm.
Free to the Public. The parade will make 2 laps around the River Walk, beginning at the International Building traveling through Restaurant Row, the horseshoe bend, the River Walk Extension, Rivercenter Mall and through Arneson River Theatre.

Tickets are on sale NOW for the 35th annual Ford Holiday River Parade, the San Antonio way to usher in the holiday season! People come from throughout Texas and the U.S. to watch this spectacular 1-hour parade on the San Antonio River Walk. The parade features 31 lavishly decorated floats including lights, costumed float riders and music. The 2016 Grand Marshal is Silver & Black Give Back, the nonprofit partner of the Spurs Sports & Entertainment family of teams. The parade theme, Tinsel & Merriment captures the fun of our floats and the essence of the parade.

Throughout the 2 1/2 miles in the downtown area of the River Walk four or five boats float on the river each night carrying a different group each hour performing live Christmas Carols. More than 185 schools, churches, companies, and civic choral groups participate each year. Joyous caroling fills the evening air along the San Antonio River Walk. The public is invited to stroll on the banks of the river or sit outdoors on a restaurant patio to enjoy the caroling.

Experience the holiday serenity of the River Walk as you stroll along the lush banks of the San Antonio River guided by more than 2,000 Luminarias each night. Warmly glowing lights in sand-filled bags line the walkways to symbolically mark the "lighting of the way" for the Holy Family. This century’s old tradition begins at dusk Friday, Saturday & Sunday only December 2-18, 2016.
