Confluence Park- Grand Opening Celebration
March 3, 2018 | 11:00AM - 12:30PM
New Date Set for Confluence Park Opening Celebration
Confluence Park’s Opening Celebration will be on Saturday, March 3rd from 11am-12:30pm on site at 310 W. Mitchell St. The frigid temperatures in mid-January led to the opening celebration’s rescheduling.
The celebration will begin with multiple “vignettes” to showcase cultural, educational, ecological and recreational opportunities at Confluence Park. It will also include a series of speakers from city, county, San Antonio River Foundation and San Antonio River Authority leadership as well as the park’s major donors and supporters. San Antonio River Foundation leadership will be on-site to answer questions about the $13M park’s development, construction and continuing vision of environmental education, stewardship and community involvement.
Public community programs and educational classes are scheduled beginning in February leading up to the large Opening Celebration which will kick-off Confluence Park’s spring events.
About Confluence Park
A San Antonio River Foundation project, Confluence Park is a landmark project where art and science meet. The park is designed to inspire students and visitors to become involved with our regional waterways and practice environmental stewardship. With environmental education as its core purpose, Confluence Park is envisioned as an interactive teaching tool that will inspire a greater understanding of Texas ecotypes and watershed dynamics.
The San Antonio River Foundation’s $13 Million investment in Confluence Park will provide a state-of-the-art outdoor venue to accommodate the San Antonio River Authority’s established educational outreach program. More information can be found at www.sariverfoundation.org/confluencepark
To complement the Opening Celebration and in partnership with Las Casas Foundation, a benefit concert featuring Pink Martini with lead singer China Forbes will be held on Wednesday, March 7th at 7pm at the Majestic Theatre.
