Pearl is a neighborhood and like all great neighborhoods it has a rich history that is added to and upheld by the many people who have ties to the place - the buildings, the river, the brewery since it was founded in 1881. Pearl is also a place where we like to get together – to share meals, to learn, to work, to live. With 324 apartments, fifteen restaurants and cafes, thirteen retailers and eighteen resident businesses as well as a twice weekly Farmers Market, this neighborhood is always full of life and activity.
We invite friends, neighbors and visitors to join us in our plaza, in our park spaces and at our year round series of music, food and cultural events and enjoy our position on the beautiful Northern reach of the San Antonio River steps from the San Antonio Museum of Art, The Do Seum and Brackenridge Park.
La Villita, south of the River Walk in downtown San Antonio, was originally settled nearly 300 years ago as one of the city's first neighborhoods. In 1939, La Villita Historic Arts Village was established and the neighborhood was adapted into a center for teaching regional arts and crafts and to serve as an artists market. Today, nearly 30 shops and galleries offer distinct handcrafted items by artists from San Antonio and surrounding areas. You'll find paintings, folk art, textiles, sculptures, copper wares, jewelry, and more. Plus, in the midst of these tree-lined walkways and plazas, enjoy a savory culinary experience at the area restaurants with options ranging from traditional Mexican flavors to steakhouse favorites. We make memories
Since 1947 Kilwins has been a celebrated part of Americana, a place where people can celebrate, vacation and share the experience of life, family and giving in a nostalgic setting. Today we continue the tradition of serving premium confections and Ice Cream made fresh from original recipes. We are locally owned and operated and it is our pleasure to serve you with genuine southern hospitality.
“Sweet in every sense since 1947”
A visit to Kilwins provides an authentic sensory and taste experience like none other. From the moment you walk in the door your senses will be enticed with the warm sweet aroma of Chocolate, Fudge, Caramel and other fresh hand-crafted confections. See creamy Fudge being paddled the traditional way on marble tables. Listen to the sound of a wooden paddle on a copper kettle as sweet Caramel Corns and Brittles are being hand-crafted. Watch as we hand dip fresh Granny Smith Apples in our signature made-in-store Caramel, developed by Don Kilwin himself, for that perfect and best tasting Caramel Apple.
And that is just the beginning. We hand-dip a variety of treats in our Heritage Milk, Dark and White Chocolate. Try a hand-dipped strawberry, pretzel, marshmallow puff, cookie, just to name a few. The Kilwins Chocolates assortments include “Extraordinary Everyday” Truffles, Sea-Salt Caramels, and our signature Dark and Milk Chocolate Tuttles.
We have 40 flavors of "Original Recipe" Ice Cream served in our freshly-made Waffle Cones and Cups. With specialty Gourmet Cake & Ice Cream, Sundaes, Shakes and Malts, there is something for everyone at Kilwins.
We make a full line of beverages, including coffee, espresso and fruit drinks for you to enjoy with your favorite confection.
