The Paseo del Rio Association
Founded in 1968, The Paseo del Rio Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to promote, protect and preserve the San Antonio River Walk, the number one tourist attraction in Texas. The Association accomplishes this through the production of special events along the River Walk throughout the year, the publication of Rio Magazine, and the hosting of www.TheSanAntonioRiverwalk.com. The Paseo del Rio serves as an advocate, facilitator, and moderator among the business, civic, and governmental communities on matters concerning the River Walk.
The Association is governed by a Board of Directors, whose policies are carried out by the Executive Committee and supported and managed on a day-to-day basis by an Executive Director and a staff of four. Membership in the Paseo del Rio Association is a collaboration of over 150 hotels, restaurants, retailers, and suppliers. Each month, members come together to share thoughts on issues of concern and carry their collective message directly to representatives of City departments, vendors, and fellow operators along the River Walk.
The Paseo del Rio Association also offers an opportunity for the general community to be involved with the River Walk through a volunteer support group. The volunteers support the activities on the River Walk by contributing volunteer hours to the planning and production of special events throughout the year.
Paseo the Parrot, the official Mascot of the San Antonio River Walk, acts as Goodwill Ambassador for the River Walk and strives to educate tourists and locals alike about the River Walk’s history and the mission of the Paseo del Rio Association.
