Michelob ULTRA River Walk Mud Festival 1/8/2009 - 1/11/2009 Held for one week in January to celebrate the draining of the San Antonio River for maintenance by the Parks & Recreation Department. This year the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled the draining of the River from January 2-9. ********** The actual Mud Festival is held after the River is filled back up. Civic & Media personalities vie for the title of the Michelob Ultra Mud Queen & Mud King by competing to see who can raise the most quarter votes for the Association. The celebration features: Michelob Ultra Mud Pie Ball, Michelob Ultra Mud Coronation, Michelob Ultra Mud Parade, and an Arts & Crafts Show................ Mud Parade will begin @ Dick's Last Resort @ 2 pm and fisih at Dick's Last Resort with an after party with live music. Event is free to the public.................The Arts & Crafts Show runs for 3 days beginning on the 9 and ends on the 11th............................. Estimated Attendance: 15,000. Mardi Gras Arts & Crafts Show 2/20/2009 - 2/22/2009 An Arts & Crafts Show is featured throughout the weekend along the River Walk Extension. Each artisan handcrafts original designs that can only be seen on the San Antonio River Walk. Applications for the Mardi Gras Arts & Crafts Show are due by January 15, 2009. Get the Application here.

BUD LIGHT Mardi Gras River Parade Sunday, February 22, 2009 A procession of decorated river barges will transform the San Antonio River Walk into a floating Bourbon Street. Krewes of costumed revelers & live entertainment will celebrate Mardi Gras San Antonio Style!Join us for an after party beginning @ 5 pm @ MadDogs British Pub on the River Walk.

Guinness Dyeing O' the River Green & St. Patrick's Day Parade 3/13/2009 - 3/15/2009 Floats release 35 pounds of environmentally friendly green dye into the San Antonio River. The event transforms the 2.5 mile river into a miniature Emerald Isle where a proclamation is read, temporarily re-naming the river "The River Shannon". Estimated Attendance: 15,000. Ford Children's Festival Saturday, April 18, 2009 The only KID event during FIESTA week! Festival with live entertainment mascots, face painting, moon bounce, games, and more! Held at Peak's Park (near the Chamber of Commerce) and Rivercenter Mall. Event will be held from 10 am - 4 pm

FORD Canoe Challenge Saturday, August 15, 2009 Over 90 canoe teams compete in the FORD Canoe Challenge…local celebrities, city officials, Corporate teams and Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts compete in timed heats. The race begins at the Chamber of Commerce, heads east through and around the Convention Center Lagoon, through the River Center Mall Lagoon and ending back at the Chamber of Commerce. DOS EQUIS Pachanga del Rio Thursday, September 10, 2009 Ticket holders enjoy sampling culinary offerings from 20 participating River Walk establishments from 5:00pm until 8:30pm. Then, all party-goers are encouraged to go to the Post-Party @ The Buckhorn Saloon & Museum located @ 318 E. Houston Street (8:45pm-11pm) where drawings will be conducted throughout the evening for great prizes and live music will top off Pachanga del Rio, "The Taste of the River Walk." Tickets available through the Paseo del Rio Association offices. Tickets are now on sale............. You may purchase tickets Monday - Friday 9 am - 3 pm by calling 210-227-4262 or @ 110 Broadway Suite 500. Tickets may be purchased Sept. 11 after 2pm @ the Rivercenter Mall Lagoon @ 849 E. FORD Holiday River Parade & Lighting Ceremony Friday, November 27, 2009 At 7:00 p.m. on the Friday following Thanksgiving, the switch is thrown and approximately 122,000 twinkling lights form a magical canopy over San Antonio's River Walk. The lights shine brightly every evening through January 1. The lighting ceremony is the official kickoff to the Paseo Del Rio Holiday Festivities. It's a Texas-size celebration that's Pure San Antonio! Tickets are sold through the Paseo Del Rio Association at (210) 227-4262. For over 20 years, the spectacular one-hour parade along San Antonio's River Walk features decorated, illuminated floats with celebrities, bands and lavishly-costumed participants. The theme for the parade is a Theatrical Christmas. Over 150,000 people will gather along the River Walk to watch the spectacle live along the parade route. Millions more will join in the fun watching the television broadcast. Reserved seating is available along the parade route. Tickets will not go on sale until September 22, 2009 for this event.

FORD Holiday Boat Caroling 11/28/2009 - 12/20/2009 Joyous caroling fills the evening air along the San Antonio River Walk as more than 185 school, church, company, and civic choral groups ring in the holidays by singing traditional carols on cruising boats. The eclectic mix of participants includes bell choirs, folk groups, Latino ensembles, and hearing impaired performers. Join visitors from around the world in impromptu sing-a-longs from the patios of River Walk restaurants.

FORD Fiesta de las Luminarias 12/4/2009 - 12/20/2009 Experience the Holiday serenity of the River Walk as you stroll along the lush banks of the San Antonio River guided by more than 6,000 luminarias. Warmly glowing candles in sand filled bags line the walkways to symbolically mark the "lighting of the way" for Holy Family. This centuries old tradition begins at dusk Friday, Saturday & Sunday only.
